The Cost of Poor Student Health
In the last 10 years more and more research has gone into the effects of missing school. How much is poor health costing your students?
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, approximately 13% of students are chronically absent, missing 18 or more days of class per school year. The institute attributes a great many of these to respiratory illnesses, asthma, and allergies.
Studies show that chronic absenteeism can translate to students having difficulty learning to read by the third- grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school.
This impact doesn't just effect the missing student. Students suffer academically from having chronically absent classmates—as exhibited across both reading and math testing outcomes.
When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating.
The Challenge of Exposure
You follow the CDC recommendations. You clean and disinfect surfaces throughout the day. You make sure that the air in your space is changing regularly. Yet your staff and students are still being negatively impacted by exposure to contaminants. And so are you.
Schools are trying HEPA filters, disinfecting UV lights, and even just open windows in a desperate attempt to improve indoor air quality. Do you feel like you're filling a swimming pool with a thimble?
A full HVAC overhaul is an option that some schools are considering. Building age- related complications, cost, and downtime make this option impractical for most schools.
Ineffective and expensive options put a tax on your ability to reduce exposure. How can you effect change without breaking the bank?

The Power of ActivePure
ActivePure and the University of Oregon
The University of Oregon was concerned with the exposure to pathogens that their staff and students were experiencing. They put ActivePure to the test. The primary mission of the test was to demonstrate efficacy by proxy in inactivating enveloped viruses such as SARs-CoV-2 and the flu.
Testing results showed an average reduction of 75.66% in fungal colony forming units with the use of ActivePure in locker rooms.
Testing results showed an overall reduction of 63.16% in bacterial and fungal colony forming units with the use of ActivePure in locker rooms.
Why was the test run on fungi and bacteria?
According to the heirarchy of pathogens: bacteria and fungi are both harder to inactivate than an enveloped virus like SARS- CoV-2. * They are also easier to measure. By running this test on microorganisms that are more resistant, we can verify how powerful ActivePure is against pathogens like enveloped viruses.
Which ActivePure units were used?
This test was performed with a combination of units. An ActivePure in-duct unit and the portable Beyond Guardian Air.
When was testing conducted?
Environment air testing was conducted on October 14th, 2021. The ActivePure portable and in-duct units were installed on October 15th, 2021. Re-testing was performed on November 4th, 2021.
